Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What size do I need?
We can help better if you know your ring size. This can by done by any jewelry and is free. Generally speaking, XS and small go on the pinky, medium or large goes on the ring. If you like lots of wiggle room or buy XXL gloves, you may need an XL for the ring and medium for the pinky. Not all fingers are the same and there’s a degree of personal preference that can’t always be figured out with a simple measurement.
Q: How should my Rock Slide fit?
Forget what you’ve seen online or heard from your guitar teacher; raise your action, get bigger strings, get a loooooooong heavy slide. That’s old news. Ideally these should fit snug like shoes and be maneuverable. The slide should stop at the large knuckle creating a 2/3 finger slide. This allows you to bend your finger with the slide on making fretting and chording MUCH easier with the slide still on your finger. Full finger slides are like wearing a cast which is limiting and not recommended. However we realize some of you like it this way and usually have a good option for this type of playing.
Q: Are your sizes the same size across materials?
Yes, Rock Slides fit the same across all materials. If small glass fits you, so will a small ceramic or small brass. Glass slides are individually made so they can vary from slide to slide but are always very close.
Q: How do I know what size my finger is?
Method 1: Jewelry Store
The most accurate way to size your finger is to stop by your neighborhood jeweler or department store with a jeweler and have them size it. The process should be free and takes about 90 seconds.
Method 2: Measure with Wrenches
If you have access to a set of Metric or USA box wrenches you can very quickly measure your finger. To measure any finger size, use the OPEN END of the wrench. DO NOT use the ring end of the wrench as it could get stuck on your finger. Find the size that slides over the large knuckle snugly like how a ring fits. If it goes over your knuckle without touching the skin then try the next size down.
Q: Do you make custom slides?
Sometimes, but not often. Please contact the email address below for requests.
Q: Can I buy multiple slides and return or exchange the ones I don’t like.
Yes, this is a great way to try out several slides if you don’t have a dealer nearby. International customers email us first so we can discuss shipping costs.
Q: What is your refund policy?
You can return 60 days from purchase in the USA. International customers have a 90 day return policy since shipping can take up to 21 days. Mail it to the address below with a note. We encourage you to keep the slide for a couple weeks and email or call Danny to see how/if we can help you. Our goal is to get you the right slide.
Q: What is your exchange policy?
USA customers can return a Rock Slide within 60 days for an exchange. In the case of an exchange, ship the slide back to the address below with a note saying what you want in exchange. We recommend USPS Ground Advantage in a small box or padded envelope. We will cover shipping cost of the new exchange slide 1 time. If there is a price difference in our favor we’ll refund you. Sometimes we’ll ask you to cover the difference if the returned item is in your favor by more than a couple bucks.
International exchanges. Please contact us to talk about options. Shipping is costly and is usually not worth it. International customers are responsible for shipping charges both ways on exchanges.
Q: What should I do if my slide is defective?
Defects happen occasionally. Please email us a picture of the defect and we will take care of you. If you find broken/cracked glass be sure to discard the slide immediately and contact us. DO NOT use broken glass on your finger, glass cuts can cause serious and permanent injury.
